April 28th is finally almost here. Even though the lockout has been the main story, the draft is one of the most entertaining days of the season. Cam Newton, the Heismon Trophy Winner, is projected to go #1 overall. But a person that I will be keeping my eye on is Brandon Fusco. He is the #2 ranked Center in the entire draft and he is from right here in Slippery Rock. He is project to be drafted as early as the 3rd round or as late as the 5th round. If I remember correctly he will be the first player from SRU to be drafted by the NFL. It will be exciting to see where he ends up. But of course I will be cheering for my Dallas Cowboys to have a good draft so the 2011 season does not end up like the 2010 season.

Dale Jr. Winless Streak in Triple Digits?
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is one of NASCAR's most popular drivers as he won the leagues most popular driver for the 8th straight year in 2010. It is now the 2011 season and Dale Jr. is still without a win since his last victory at Michigan International Speedway in 2008. If you count all those races up, you will come to a grand total of a 101 race winless streak. I'm positive that Dale is one heck of a driver and can drive anything with wheels on it. Some people are starting to call him overrated but even without winning he is still Mr. Popularity. Sure his last name will carry him and bring intense pressure to do well but I believe it is bad luck that has caused this losing streak to reach triple digits. Before the end of this season I believe that Earnhardt Jr. will be in victory lane because it will begin to eat him up inside. He is hungry for a win and will get it before this streak really gets out of hand.

Playing for the Bengals or retire, that is the question
Carson Palmer has been a Cincinnati Bengal since he was drafted in 2003 out of USC. Now after another losing season Carson is threatening the Bengals to trade him or he will retire. To the Bengals this is a slap in the face because their Pro Bowl quarterback does not want to return to this team. The Bengals have been through a lot already dealing with Batman and Robin (Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco) and now they have to deal with potentially losing their starting quarterback. If the Bengals want any chance of Carson staying they need to add more talent to try to persuade him to stay. If they fail to do that will want to trade him to at least get some talent in return. Of course the CBA will come into effect with this as well, without a new CBA teams are not allowed to trade players. This has drama written all over it and I feel that the Bengals should be looking for a new quarterback.

Trevor Bayne shocks Daytona
Trevor Bayne is a 20 year old who was coming into his very first Daytona 500 and his second race in the Sprint Cup Series overall. He most likely was celebrating the night before the Daytona 500 as it was his 20th birthday. He was driving the #21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Tire and Auto Center Ford for Wood Brothers Racing. Bayne and the Wood Brothers had only planned on running a part time schedule for the 2011 season but good practice runs and the ability to qualify third showed everyone that this car was one of the fastest. Bayne, though inexperienced, was up front all day and was not afraid to push nascar veterans like Jeff Gordan and Martin Truex Jr. He was able to avoid everyone of the record 16 cautions on Sunday and when that checkered flag dropped he was the first one to cross. Not only is this a great story for Trevor Bayne who just one day after turning 20 years old got his first every win at the worlds greatest race. But also it is a great story for Wood Brothers Racing who gets their first win since Elliot Sadler in 2001.

10th Anniversery since the passing of a Legend
This Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway will be the 10th season since the passing of one of the greatest drivers to ever get behind the wheel of a racecar, Dale Earnhardt. His black car with the white number three was the most well known number of all of NASCAR, but at the end of the 2001 Daytona 500 he was involved in an accident that sent him straight into the wall. At this years Daytona 500 race this sunday he will be remembered by the fans standing and holding up three fingers on lap number three. Also his number three from his racecar will be painted in the grass in the tri-oval of the track. Whether you loved him or hated him you always respected him. After he finally won his Daytona 500 in 1998 "every man on every crew" came out to shake his hand when he was pulling into the pits on his way to victory lane. I believe this is great what they are doing for Dale Earnhardt, it is almost like the NFL or NBA is retiring a jersey number. Yes there has been great drivers before Earnhardt and there will be great drivers after him but none of them had their life taken away doing what they loved. Since this accident NASCAR has increased the safety precautions by making the cars more safe and the tracks itself as well. NASCAR lost a legend that day but he will always be remembered.

Green Bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers led the Green Bay Packers against the Big Ben and the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XV. Rodgers threw 24 for 39 and 3 touchdowns while leading his Packers to the win 31-25 and grabbing the MVP award for the game. Some people believe that with this win finally takes him outside of Brett Favre's shadow, I'm not quite sure. Rodgers will always be the one who replaced Brett Favre in Green Bay but Favre is one of the greatest players who has ever played the game of football. Rodgers tied Favre with one Super Bowl victory but he has a long way to go to reach Favre's other statistics. Favre holds the all time records for most career touchdown passes, most career passing yards, most career pass completions, most career pass attempts, most career interceptions thrown, most consecutive starts, most consecutive starts by a QB, most career victories as a starting quarterback, most sacked, and most fumbles. Will Rodgers ever be better than the person he replaced? I highly doubt it. Can he create his own legacy in the NFL? That I think he will do.

New Technology
In todays world not many people get their information from newspapers anymore. The iPods and iPhones and even the newer iPad have applications where you can get your latest news from. Sportacular is one of those apps that will give every sports junkie that information that he needs in any given day. Follow every sport that interests you, from the NFL, NBA, PGA, LPGA, or even college basketball or football. According to http://iphone-apps.toptenreviews.com/ it grades it very well and it looks well organized. It comes out with newer editions and the 2011 edition is out now. Also it is very up to date with every game going on that particular day. It is also connected to Facebook so your friends can see every comment you make as it appears on your Facebook profile page. I will definitely look into this app and probably will download it myself. But one of the best things about this app is that it is FREE.
